Coromandel Region

  Surrounded by the Pacific Ocean, it’s no surprise the Coromandel is blessed with an abundance of locally grown seafood and fresh local cuisine. With Coromandel Town home to harvests of mussels and oysters; the waters of Whitianga a perfect bed for scallops; the rocky coastline on the east a haven for crayfish; and the crystal clear waters on both coasts perfect conditions for snapper, trevally, gurnard, tarakihi, kahawai and, if you’re really lucky, yellow fin tuna and kingfish.

Myriad fresh produce is produced on The Coromandel, from the macadamias at Cathedral Cove Macadamias to the Cheeses at Matatoki Cheese, and lets not forget the aromatic wines from Ohinemuri Estate in the South to Mercury Bay Estate in the East.
