Further up the valley in the wine growing areas of Gladstone, Opaki and Masterton around 16 wineries offer the same relaxed appeal.

Wairarapa’s food highlights include Moise Cerson’s French Bakery, Schoc Chocolates, Olivo olive oil, Kingsmeade Sheep Milk Cheeses, Lavender’s Green citrus products, Wendy Campbell’s French Bistro in Martinborough and Bar Salute, Greytown.

A popularFarmer’s Market is held at Solway Park in Masterton. Locally made bread, cheese, olive oil, preserves and beer are all on offer.
