Hauraki Salt Company is proud to be New Zealand’s first commercial, artisan salt maker and the first salt maker in the North Island. Launched early in 2017 we produce a pure and natural flake sea salt from the beautiful waters of the Hauraki Gulf. Our large crunchy flakes retain healthy minerals and trace elements, taste clean, smooth and briny, with no bitter after taste. It simply tastes like the sea!
Harnessing a unique production method, we have essentially found the sweet spot between time, energy and pressure to evaporate our sea water. It all starts at the beach, just off Duder Regional Park and around the coast from an oyster farm, we bucket out the water. After triple filtering, boiling and then a long slow evaporation in our pan, salt flakes start to form. We hand harvest, dry and then package by hand. Used by both home cooks and fine dining restaurants, please enjoy our salt.
