Based in the sunny Tasman region of New Zealand, nestled between the sea and the mountains, Neudorf Black is a member of the artisanal food and beverage community across Te Tau Ihu, the top of the South Island of New Zealand.Inspired by ancient superfoods, our locally produced gourmet range strives to capture natural nutritional benefits while delivering an unrivalled taste experience. We believe anyone can create something special with exceptional flavour and nutrition.We are husband and wife duo, Noël and Teena Jelsma. Like many New Zealanders we believe that good food should not come at the expense of the planet.We spent 8 years living in Asia, the birthplace of Black Garlic.
However, our first tasting experience of Black Garlic was 40 mins from our New Zealand home, at the local market in Nelson, New Zealand. That's where we met Ralph who made Karamaya Black Garlic paste.In 2019 while living overseas, we heard that Karamaya was looking for a buyer before closing up shop. Unable to let New Zealand's best Black Garlic fade into the sunset, Neudorf Black was born. We relocated back to our property on Neudorf Road in Upper Moutere in December 2019.
Sustainability: Diverse crops on our 5 hectare are grown using organic principles; 'from the ground up'. Our focus is on nurturing the earth and goodness that lives beneath our feet. To produce the best Black Garlic products, we work with New Zealand's best garlic growers.
